Lake Today community guidelines

Lake Today is where people on Lake Lanier share what the lake looks like right now: the water, the weather, the ramps, the fishing, the sunsets. It’s in the Lake Lanier Now app. These guidelines keep it useful and friendly. By posting, you agree to them.

What to post

  • What the lake is like right now: water conditions, weather, wind, ramp lines, fishing, wildlife, sunsets.
  • Photos you took yourself.
  • Helpful replies to other people’s posts.

What not to post

  • Harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech or personal attacks.
  • Nudity, sexual content, graphic violence, or anything illegal or dangerous.
  • Spam, ads, links or self-promotion. Businesses can ask to be listed through List My Business in the app instead.
  • Other people’s private information, or photos of people who didn’t agree to be posted.
  • Photos or text you don’t have the right to share.
  • False reports meant to mislead people about conditions or safety.

Lake Today is not for emergencies

In danger on the water? Call 911. To report boating under the influence or reckless boating, call Georgia DNR at 1-800-241-4113. Lake conditions on Lake Today are from other people and are for planning only, not for navigation.

Reporting, blocking and enforcement

  • Every post and reply has a ••• menu to report it or block the person who posted it. Blocked people’s posts disappear for you.
  • Lake Lanier Now reviews reports within 24 hours. A post reported by several people is hidden automatically until it’s reviewed.
  • Posts that break these guidelines are removed. People who break them, especially repeatedly, are banned from posting.
  • A word filter blocks posts and names with offensive language and links.

Your account

You sign in with Apple. We store your display name, your posts, photos and replies, and who you’ve blocked. You can change your name or delete your account at any time in the app (Lake Today → your name → Delete my account); that permanently removes your account and everything you posted.
