Common questions

I’m not getting lake alerts.

Open the app’s Alerts tab and make sure alerts are on, then tap “Send me a test alert”. If the test doesn’t arrive, open iPhone Settings → Notifications → Lake Lanier Now and turn on Allow Notifications.

How do I stop alerts?

Turn off the topics you don’t want on the Alerts tab, or tap “Turn alerts off”. That deletes your phone from our alert list.

Where does the lake level come from?

From the U.S. Geological Survey gauge at Buford Dam (02334400), updated about every 15 minutes. Full pool is 1,071 ft May through November and 1,070 ft December through April.

How do you decide whether a ramp is usable?

A lane counts as usable with at least 3 ft of water at the end of the concrete, the Corps of Engineers’ rule (3 to 3.5 ft is shallow). A courtesy dock needs 1.8 ft. Ramp elevations come from the Corps’ published list. Parks can still close a ramp for other reasons, so check before you tow.

How do I add the home screen widget?

Press and hold your home screen, tap + (or Edit → Add Widget), search for “Lake Lanier”, and pick a size.

How do I get my business listed?

Use More → List My Business in the app, or email us.
